Grace is a talented but creatively stalled artist in her late twenties. She specializes in hyper-realistic pen-and-ink drawings, a medium that reflects her own tightly controlled, black-and-white view of the world. She values logic, routine, and emotional distance, having purposefully avoided deep, messy connections since a painful childhood event. Her art is perfect but lacks soul.
Grace inherits a dilapidated house from a mysterious, estranged uncle. In the attic, she finds a peculiar, life-sized, articulated wooden sculpture of a panda with the initials G. Panda carved into its base. The sculpture is a golem, a creature animated by a secret, emotional ritual. As Grace tries to understand her uncle’s life and his obsession with this creation, the wooden panda begins to subtly and silently influence her choices, forcing her to confront her own emotional numbness.
